Gorakshpeethadhishwar’s Vijay Shobhayatra Marks Faith, Unity and Cultural Harmony in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur: On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, the traditional Vijay Shobhayatra of Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath set out from Gorakhnath Temple, becoming a vibrant symbol of faith, unity, and harmony.

The grand procession was warmly welcomed not only by devotees from the Hindu community but also by members of the Muslim and Sindhi communities, who showered flowers and extended greetings along the route.

Mounted on a chariot-like special vehicle, CM Yogi Adityanath, dressed in the traditional attire of the Gorakshpeeth, led the sacred procession after offering prayers to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath. The atmosphere was electrified with the beats of nagfani, turhi, nagada, damaru, and bands, while young members of Shri Shri Hanuman Dal impressed onlookers with their acrobatic feats. Folk artists, arranged by the Culture Department, added to the festivities with traditional performances at different points along the route.

As the procession advanced, Muslim weavers and members of the Pasmanda community, led by former Urdu Academy chairman Chaudhary Kaifulwara, greeted the CM with garlands and flower showers. Accepting their greetings with a smile, Yogi Adityanath blessed them and offered sacred prasadam from the temple’s Navratri rituals. Many members of the minority community reverently placed the prasadam on their foreheads as a mark of devotion. Kaifulwara said his family had been welcoming the Vijay Shobhayatra for generations, emphasizing that Gorakshpeeth sees all people beyond distinctions of caste, creed, or religion.

Further ahead, the Sindhi community extended a rousing welcome near Shri Jhulelal Temple and Durga Puja pandals. All along the route to Mansarovar Temple, residents—especially women and children, many from minority communities—lined balconies and rooftops, capturing the moment on their phones as the procession passed.

On reaching Mansarovar Temple, the Gorakshpeethadhishwar performed special worship of Lord Mahadev and other deities with Vedic chants, completing the ritual with a traditional abhishek. From there, the procession moved to the Mansarovar Ramlila Ground, where Yogi Adityanath performed the Rajtilak of Lord Shri Ram amidst resounding chants of Jai Shri Ram. He also offered prayers to Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, and performed the aarti.

The annual Vijay Shobhayatra of the Gorakshpeeth is regarded as one of the most spectacular traditions of the Nath sect, blending spirituality, devotion, and social harmony. This year’s celebrations once again highlighted Gorakshpeeth’s enduring role as a unifying force across communities.
